Brown Paper Bag Test is a socially engaged installation that addresses issues of discrimination within the black community based upon skin complexion and comparison of shade, formally known as colorism. This piece explores the impact that colorism has on black women and the role that they play in this narrative while asking the audience to explore where they stand in this social phenomenon that dates back to the practice of slavery in America.
